All Paratroopers are Welcome to Blog!

Hi Dear,

Greetings!

We have created this Blog for the Veteran Paratroopers of India. All Paratroopers and their wards are welcome to Blog.

This could include Your memoirs, Your excursions & experiences; poetry/poems written by You, photographs taken; events coverage and after-event reports; and anything else that would interest the Visitors. No Postings with security implications will be entertained.

Needless to say that all Your Postings should be decent and proper. Blogger himself is responsible and accountable for content of his Posting(s). The Blog Team indemnifies itself from any damages.

The Postings will be moderated without losing your 'flavour' in keeping with the aim of the Blog. Happy Blogging !!

Also, this Blog will be used for welfare activities of Para Veterans, including developing & harnessing their talent for the Indian Defence Industry in consulting and operational roles within Govt. Rules in a transparent manner.

  1. Sukhi sir,
Hi! it was great to get your mail about this blog, and to visit the same. Super initiative on your part. My compliments to you sir. It would be a wonderful idea to start a database of paratroopers linked to this blog, so that one can get in touch with old friends and colleagues. Access should be given to users (serving/ retired paratroopers), to post/ update their personal and contact details. Hope you agree.
    Warmest regards

  2. Hi Lester,

Greetings and Thanks for Your Note.

In fact the Aim is to 'aggregate' all the Paratroopers. The Blog could come very handy in building & enhancing the vital bonds that troopers have.

    Regards,

    Sukhi

  3. Congrats on the blogspot.....Something thats rankled with me which perhaps some veteran could explain - the difference between Shatrujeet & Pegasus -.Is there a difference?Or is it one & the same albeit in an Indian context

  4. Shatrujeet insignia is inspired by Pegasus; the insignia used by the British Para.

  5. The Pegasus was the formation sign used by the British Airborne forces and the 2nd Indian Airborne Division when it was reorganized coinciding with the raising of the Indian Parachute Regiment in 1944, the only difference being 'INDIA' written below the fore legs of the creature. This formation was retained by the British till as late as 1999 when their sole airborne formation became part of their air assault brigade. In India, the Pegasus was replaced by the Shatrujeet in 1952 when the Parachute Regiment was raised by bringing together the three airborne-qualified battalions from the Punjab, Maratha LI, Kumaon regiments. The Shatrujeet, along with the cap badge was designed by Capt (later Lt Gen) ML Tuli. The inspiration was taken from the Indian mythical king (Shatrujeet) and his winged steed Kuvalaya. The two were known to be inseparable that they were taken to be one, hence, the body of a horse and the upper torso of a human.
