Shatrujeet, motto of Para, epitomizes the spirit of Para Community in India.
On Indep in 1947, the 44 AB Div was divided between India and Pakistan, with India retaining the Div HQ and the 50 and the 77 Para Bdes. The 77 Para Bde was later disbanded.
In 1952, the Para Regt was raised by absorbing three inf bns; 1st Bn the Punjab Regt (PARA), 3rd Bn, the Maratha Lt Inf (PARA), and 1st Bn, the Kumaon Regt (PARA).Para Bns keep getting re-organised as per the need. 1, 2,3,4, 9, 10, 21 Para are now Special Forces(SF) with 5, 6, 7 as normal Para Bns. 50 Para Bde, raised on 29 Oct 1941, has various Para Arms and Services units integral to it.
411 Para Field Company, and 60 Para Field Ambulance are the oldest units of the Bde.
Veteran Indian Paratroopers have fond memories and bonding with 50 & 51 Para Bdes. As of now, only one Indian Para Bde remains.
